Free Rice

We have recently been using the website Free Rice to practice math concepts and vocabulary skills.  This website is sponsored by a non-profit organization and each question answered correctly translates into grains of rice that are sent around to world to relieve hunger.  We are really enjoying changing the world one question at a time!

Storybird

Storybird is one of our new favorite websites.  Using artwork categorized by different themes, we are able to create and publish our own online stories.  Please take a moment to see our great work!

Your child will have his/her log-in information.  We are currently working on writing stories that include our weekly vocabulary words, effective sentence variety, and figurative language.

Time Capsule Adventure

What an adventure!  We spent the first few weeks of school creating individual time capsules.  In these time capsules we included artifacts that symbolize our values and interests, information about current events, and recordings of letters written to ourselves in the future.  We were so honored to have the opportunity to actually bury our capsules.  We are looking forward to June when we will return to uncover our capsules and reflect upon our academic and personal growth as we prepare for the exciting transition into 6th grade.

Salsa!

We were so fortunate to participate in harvesting tomatoes from our garden this year.  Mrs. Diffely and Mrs. Sang taught us how to make delicious salsa.  What a feast!
